Music to the Eyes Technique Blog Hop

Welcome to.....

This month there are 16 CTMH Consultants highlighting the "Music to the Eyes" technique that is featured on page 34 of our Annual Inspirations idea book! This technique is all about jazzing up your pages by outlining letters and other accents using our new journalling pen.  This technique is simple yet adds so much to a layout or card or whatever you are creating.

If you are here from Darlys R's blog, then you are on the right track! This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork incorporating this technique.

For my project I created a Valentine card for my hubby.  I was inspired by Karen Pedersen's card that she had posted on her blog last October. Using our latest Cricut cartridge, Artfully Sent and some retired paper - Ivy Lane, I was able to create a simple yet perfect card.

I used our new 'Marvy Uchida LePen' journaling pen to outline all the inside and outside edges of the card front to add a bit of dimension. I also used some hearts front he Stuck on You Puffies pack.

Now hop on over to Melissa D's blog to see another amazing project featuring Music to the Eyes!!!!

If you would like to order your very own journalling pen or other great supplies, visit my website and place your order!

It's All About That Oil!!!!

I figured it was time I speak up now that I have some personal stories to share about the oily life! I began using Young Living Essential Oils last October.

My main reason for getting into the oily life was to try to find some relief for my mom and her many health issues.   I began doing a lot of reading and praying so I would know which oils to get for my mom.  One of her biggest issues at that time was kidney stones, her lupus and immune system.  So I started her on a regimen of Thieves (to boost her immune system), Lemon (kidneys), Peppermint (headaches, nausea) & Lavender (rest and anything else you need!!!!) All of these oils have many more benefits these were simply my main focus.  The following month I got her using a couple of different oils for her COPD (Breath Again) and pain (pain cream from several different oils & Copaiba).  Please know, my mom still has lupus and fibromyalgia; however, the quality of her life has drastically improved.  She has not had a berthing treatment since last October and although she did come down with the flu, she didn't end up in the hospital with pneumonia!!!  For those of you who know the battles she has had over the last few years - -this is a huge victory!!! The only thing different she is doing is using the oils!!!!

I am also using several different oils myself for overall health and simply to feel better and let me just say - they truly work!!!! There are so many little things as well that I love about the oils from making stinky shoes & feet smell better to helping my headaches and tendonitis --- I can honestly say - I love my oils!!!!!And what makes them even more special - they are all natural and have been used since the beginning of time. Essential oils are made by God and what God creates is always for our benefit!

Because I know how great these oils are, I want to share how good they are with everyone.  I would be glad to have a more in-depth conversation with you about these amazing essential oils. I can also teach a basic oil class for you and your friends --- this would give you an opportunity to earn FREE oils and gifts!

Or you can just take the plunge like I did and sign up to be a wholesale member and get a starter kit! For anyone who signs up, I will personally give you a reference book that will help you get started on your own oily journey!

Birthday Creations

Last weekend we celebrated my grandson's 1st birthday! (I cannot believe he is already 1 - I have no idea how time goes by so fast!!!!) His mommy asked me to make him a Monsters, Inc banner and with a little help from my computer and my cricut I was able to make his name banner for his highchair:

Here is a close up of the banner!
And here is the cutie himself!!!!

I had an extremely busy week the week before his birthday and when I got up on Saturday morning, I realized I had not made him a card yet! I wasn't sure what I was going to do but then I remembered I had the CTMH Artfully Sent Cricut Cartridge that I had not even opened yet.  I had seen many cards made with the cartridge but I just had not had a chance to use it.  Well I decided to get it out and put it to use.  Here is the card I made in less than 15 minutes - yes 15 minutes!!!!

Love how CTMH truly makes things FASTER, SIMPLER. EASIER!!!!!!! Here is a You Tube video to see more about this cartridge!

January Technique Blog Hop: Charmed I'm Sure

Welcome to our January Technique Blog Hop:

This month there are 12 of us highlighting the Charmed I'm Sure technique which features our Base & Bling charms used in ways other than jewelry!!!  You can read abut this technique on page 133 as well as all the available charms as shown on page 166 of our Annual Inspirations! This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork incorporating this technique.

If you are coming from Terry's post you are on the right track!

For my project this month, I decided to do an altered composition book for my 2015 prayer journal. True story here -- due to my order being delayed in shipping and having a leadership training in Orlando this week, I created my project in my hotel room on Tuesday night!!!!! I love how simple and quick many projects can be, yet they always turn out just right!!!

So here is my journal with the base & bling "Free Thinker Charms" tied to some twine --- I think they are just the right amount of embellishment! I simply used a sheet of B&T from our Seaside paper kit and a Picture My Life card from the Chalk It Up kit. I added some twine and tied 2 of the charms to it and VOILA -----

Now hop on over to Denise's blog for some more amazing Charmed projects!!!!!

Make sure you leave me a comment if you like what you saw!

CTMH Paper Focus Blog Hop - Heartstrings

Thank you for joining me and several Heartfelt Sentiments team members as we showcase artwork using Close To My Heart's paper packet, "Heartstrings".  This paper packet is showcased in our Seasonal Expressions 1 and has so much potential - perfect for Valentine's as well as many other projects.  I know you will like what you see as you "hop".

If you are here from Aggie's blog, then you are on the right track.  You can always visit Melissa's blog if you get lost along the way or to see a fill list of all the participants.

For my project I created a layout using Heartstrings in Studio J.  I wasn't quite sure what photos I was going to use or even what theme I would do but as I started looking at the Stickease in SJ, I knew I wanted to do pics from mine & hubby's recent vacation to the mountains to celebrate our first date anniversary.  Although these pictures are of us horseback riding, I think this paper captures the true meaning of our trip --- to celebrate us!!!!

I love the 'wash tape' stickease -- they are perfect for photos as well as embellishments!!!!

Thanks for stopping by! Now hop on over to Judy Faye's blog to see another amazing creation with Heartstrings!!!

ABC's of Gratitude

For the last few weeks I have been reading Max Lucado's book, Before Amen. The book has been a great study on how to pray and Max gives a very simple 'pocket prayer' to use as a guide to have more meaningful prayers.  Max even describes himself as a prayer wimp.  I now if I am honest with myself, I tend to be a prayer wimp as well.  I have some good friends who are able to articulate the most beautiful, heartfelt prayers that are very detailed and honest.  Unfortunately, I tend to be brief and very general in my prayers - until this study! Throughout this study I have learned (or am learning) to be more specific and intentional about my prayers.

The pocket prayer that Max uses in this book is as follows:

Father, you are good. I need help. Heal me and forgive me. They need help. Thank you. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Each chapter of the book has covered a different phrase of the pocket prayer and how to use that phrase as a guide to dig deep into our heart and to be honest and specific with God about that area of life!

Well today I finished Chapter 8 which was the chapter on the "Thank You" phrase. Here are a few facts / quotes about the importance of being thankful:

  • We are commanded over 100 times in Scripture to give thanks
  • Adam & Eve's lack of thankfulness led to discontentment & ingratitude (so basically not being thankful led to the first sin)
  • The Israelites wondered around for 40 years because of their lack of thankfulness (not being thankful leads to grumbling & complaining)
  • To say thanks is to celebrate a gift
  • Gratitude is a dialysis of sorts. It flushes the self-pity out of our systems

Also included in this chapter was Max's personal ABCs of Gratitude list in which he identified different things in life he is thankful for from A to Z.  What I noticed on his list was simple things and even some silly things (like bald spots, chocolate, naps, running water, walks, etc.) --- things I would normally never even think about thanking God for.  As part of the study, we were encouraged to make our own ABCs of Gratitude list and let me tell you - it was hard! I don't have a problem being thankful for my salvation, my family, my friends, my health, my church -- you know all the things we are all thankful for.  But when I started focusing on the small - the mundane - the things I normally take for granted ---  well let's just say it looked a lot easier than it was to do.  But oh what joy I got from it! Here is a picture of my list:

Ok, so maybe some of these are not so mundane & 'small" but for the most part I found things to be thankful for that I have never taken the time to even recognize much less give thanks for!

If you are struggling with a sense of gloom or you haven't had any joy in a while, I encourage you to take the time to do your own ABCs of Gratitude list. I promise you, you will be thankful you did! Leave me a comment and let me know some of the things you are thankful for!!!!

A Gift from the Heart & Soul

With my children all being adults now, finding Christmas gifts is getting harder & harder to do.  I try to do something personal for them and this year a fellow scrapper posted pictures of some recipe cards she had made using Studio J. As soon as I saw them I knew what I wanted to do  --- I wanted to make a Family Recipe Cookbook for my kids.  So I started creating in Studio J and this is what it looked like in SJ:

I had to make 7 of these and I had not quite figured out how to put them together. However, when I was shopping (the weekend before Christmas) I saw a display stand at Michaels and knew immediately this is how I would put them together.  However, each stand could only hold 20 pages and I was going to need 34 pages (once I cut them into the 6x6 pages each book totaled 34 pages!!!)  Thankfully, CTMH had the perfect solution ---- 6x6 flip flap pages! All I had to do was punch holes in them and hang them on the rack.  Here is what it looked like put together (I will spare you and only show a few of the pages - LOL!)

Needless to say I think my kids were very happy with this gift!!!!!

If you have not tried Studio J yet, you are missing out!!! It is so versatile and can be used for more than layouts!
