It's Been Awhile......

I think the last time I actually sat down to create traditional layouts was in February 2013 at a retreat! I have been using Studio J to get caught up but I wanted to get my cutter and create!!! I knew I wanted to focus on my new grandson, Jase, first few days for these layouts and I already had in my mind what paper pack I wanted to use - Babycakes. Then I happened to find a workshop created by the amazing Pam Thorn.  I ordered it about a month ago along with the paper, supplies and photos I would need. Well, its been sitting on my table just waiting for me to dig in to it....

Spring break started today and although I had to work today and part of the day tomorrow, one of my goals this week is to complete (or at least get most of it done) this workshop. Well, I am very pleased to announce that I did get everything cut tonight. So now I can start working on putting the pages together and adding my pics and some journalling!

I have forgotten how much I enjoy using our how-to-books & workshops to cut and put layouts together. There's just something special about the feel of that paper in my hands!

Stay tuned for another post later this week for some of the finished pages......

Sunday, April 13, 2014

I love this time of year! I love the cool mornings and warm days! I love family gatherings! I love the excitement of the little ones when they find an egg that has been very carefully hidden! I love Spring Break! But most of all, I love Easter and what it means! Easter is a great reminder of what our Savior did for us  - not just His crucifixion but most of all His resurrection - for that is what brings us life! (Check back later in the week for a post that explains in detail the importance of the resurrection!)

In celebrating the Easter season the message in church this morning was about Palm Sunday (the Sunday before Christ was crucified.) I loved how this was explained this morning and God really spoke to my heart through the sermon today so I wanted to share some of this insight with you.

The message was based on Luke 19:28-48. Before reading any further, open your Bible or click on the reference to read the passage.

The Triumphal Entry - We can see several things from this passage that happens when Jesus arrives.

  • When Jesus arrives, there is always preparation! (v. 30-32)
  • When Jesus arrives, there is always celebration! (v. 36-38)
  • When Jesus arrives, there is always opposition! (v. 39)
  • When Jesus arrives, there will always be a witness! (v. 40)
  • When Jesus arrives, there is a cleansing! (v. 45-46)

We see all of these things taking place in these verses, but more importantly all of this also happens to us when Jesus arrives in our lives! Before we could ever enter into a personal relationship with Him, He prepares our heart! When we invite Him in and He arrives, there is a great celebration -- I can still remember the celebration that occurred within me the very moment I gave my heart to Christ! But I can also remember some of the opposition & the battles that Satan would throw my way. When Jesus arrived in my life, there were definitely some areas He had to clean up and He still works on cleaning me up on a daily basis! And from the very moment He arrived in me, I became His witness!

Palm Sunday is not just a time for us to remember the Triumphal Entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, it is also a time for us to rejoice over the triumphal entry Jesus had in our own personal lives! And if for some reason none of this makes sense to you or you have never had the joy of experiencing the arrival of Christ in your life, please contact me! I would love to share more with you and pray with you!

Hosanna! Hosanna! Hosanna in the highest!

One Little Word 2014

In January I signed up to do Ali Edwards' One Little Word for 2014.  This is where you pick one word and through out the year focus on that word --- You live with it. You invite it into you life. You let it speak to you.  Each month Ali posts creative prompts to help you relate to your word.

My one little word for this year is FREE / FREEDOM! I had been reading in my Bible and this word just really kept coming back to me -- as if God was telling me that He wants me to let go and be FREE in HIM!!!! I am still a long way from where I need to be but as long as I keep moving forward I am making progress.

Here are a few pages from my OLW journal (I am actually using one of CTMH's MY Smash Books for my journal.)
This is the opening pages of my journal that explains the meaning behind my word and also has the words to "Break Every Chain" which is my theme song for this year!
This is my intentions page and is where I have reflected what I want to get out of my OLW this year!

The February prompt was to have a reflection for each month and 12 action steps.  I do have this in my journal but I did not take pictures of these pages.

Here is my March creative prompt - we were to create a vision board related to our word / life.  Many people were doing there's one a canvas or in a  frame but I wanted mine directly in my journal.  I had been pinning many quotes and images on Pinterest that were related to my word, so that is what I used to create my vision pages:

I am really enjoying this workshop!

TTT: Studio J - Britt's Wedding

Tuesday's Tips, Techniques & Tutorials - Studio J

So this past week I worked on getting some scrapbooking done by using Studio J! Studio J is so fast, easy & simple - I was able to create 13 layout pages of Britt's wedding as well as our cruise from last year -- all in just a few days.  Then with the special this month I only had to pay $5 for each layout! That is such an amazing deal -- one you cannot pass up.

Here are the layout pages from Britt's wedding & reception. One of the great things about Studio J is that you can change the colors of any of the papers to make it fit your color scheme. Britt had 7 different colors in her wedding so I was able to use embellishments and papers to pull in all the colors on a few of the pages.

One more tip for using SJ -- the Wise Guys layout and the Dancing with Daddy layout were the same template on SJ.  However, I manipulated some of the photo wells ad rotated the left page to give the layouts a different look.

There truly are an endless combinations of ways to scrapbook using Studio J! And remember - this month is only $5 per layout!!!! Contact me today to get started for FREE!
