Creative Gifts

I wanted to share some of the gifts I made this year for friends and family. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures of several of the items but I do have a few to share.

These are adorable dry-erase boards made using different papers (all CTMH -- Twitterpatted, Notebook, Moon Doggie, & Animal Cookies) with coordinating embellishments and stickease. These are so simple to create -- make a layout with no pictures then simply place in a frame. Add a dry erase marker and viola --- you have a dry erase board!!!

This cute mini album (click on the image to see a full slideshow of all the pages) was made with CTMH's All Sorts Mini Album and 1/2 pack of Jingle Level 2 Paper. I used cranberry, juniper and white daisy ribbons and embellishments. Now I need to make one of these for myself!!!

And finally, I created this framed quote for my sisters on their birthdays --- one was Dec 5 and the other was Dec 7. They loved them. I used our Tickled Pink stamp set to random stamp on White Daisy CS to create my own B&T paper then cut it to 8.5 x 11, printed the Sisters and quotes right on the paper and finally placed it in the frame for a priceless personal gift!!!

Christmas Day with Family!

Just wanted to share our tradional Christmas Day pictures. We have had them sit on the couch together for a group shot for the last several years. We always get a goofy one and a serious one. As you can see we are growing!!! With a new son-in-law, a future daughter-in-law and new dogs in the family it takes more than the couch to get everyone in the picture. Even though we didn't start Christmas until 3 PM we were all together and that's all that counts!!! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas as I know we sure did.

Merry CHRISTmas

To begin with, I want to take a few minutes and wish each one of you a very Merry CHRISTmas. This past year has been wonderful for my family --- we had another child graduate from high school and had our first one get married. Life is definitely changing -- for the first time in many years, we will not be waking up on Christmas morning and opening gifts. At first I had a hard time dealing with this as this has been a tradition for us. But then I realized that I am so blessed because all of our children will be here that afternoon for us to be together as a family - and after all that's all that matters!!! I hope and pray that you will be spending time with your family and friends...whether on Christmas Eve, Christmas morning or even after ... as long as you get together!

But most of all, I pray that you will pause at some point and reflect on the awesomeness of God's love for us as we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior -- Jesus Christ. He was born so He could die so we could live! A friend of mine had the following comment posted on his Facebook the other day and I thought it was worth passing on:

I want everyone to remember that Christmas is not possible without CHRIST. It's not Happy Holidays or Merry X-mas. It's CHRISTmas - Merry CHRISTmas. We celebrate the birth of Christ only once a year --- how shameful. For those who think once a year is all we need to celebrate JESUS's birth, well let me ask you a question. What if GOD only forgave us of our sins and covered us with the blood of his precious son JESUS once a year? How would you feel if you made a terrible mistake or you did something very wrong, or you felt so guilty or ashamed and you had to wait for that one day of the year to come around before GOD would forgive you and wash you and set you free from your shame and guilt? Have you really ever stopped and thought about the way we can be. We always seem to be so busy caught up in our own life that we really miss the bigger picture. What if GOD said he was too busy for us? Just stop and really think and focus on GOD, make time for Him everyday. Just think about if GOD said I'm too busy for you sinners, or I don't have time to worry with your problems right now. Think about what the birth of CHRIST, the crucifixion of CHRIST and the resurrection of CHRIST really means to you. Thank Him for a love like no one in this world could ever give any of us. Thank Him for being the one and only true living GOD. Merry CHRISTmas and GOD bless you all.

So Much to Be Thankful For!!!

I hope everyone has had a happy & blessed Thanksgiving! I know I have so many things to be thankful for but most of all I am thankful for a God that loves me in spite of who I am. He is God who is always there even when it doesn't seem like He is. His love for us is so amazing - it is truly indescribable!

On November 5, there was a challenge on Facebook to post something that you are thankful for each day. I went back and looked through the postings I had made and compiled them here. I think I was actually able to post something everyday from November 5 until last night. When we start writing down all the things that we are thankful for it makes us really take a step back and realize how blessed we truly are. My sister and I were talking tonight at dinner about how grateful we are for our families and our health. She was thinking back to 5 years ago when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer and I was thinking about Thanksgiving 10 years ago when my youngest son had leukemia. We were talking about how far we have come and how blessed we are. I have no idea why God chooses to bless me so immeasurably but I do know that I am so thankful that He does! So here is a list of my postings from the last 3 weeks. May God bless you --- Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His faithful love endures forever. Psalms 107:1

  • Today I am so thankful for my salvation - to know that a wretch like me could me saved from my sins still amazes me daily!
  • Today I am so thankful for the unconditional love of my Savior.
  • Today I am so thankful for my wonderful hubby who loves me for who I am and accepts all my flaws.
  • Today I am thankful for my 4 wonderful and amazing children!!!! (As well as my son-in-law and future daughter-in-law!)
  • Today I am thankful for godly parents and godly in-laws.
  • Today I am thankful for godly friends who help me stay accountable and accept me for who I am.
  • Today I am thankful to be an American and for all the men and women who defend my freedom everyday!!!!! A special thank you to all of our veterans.
  • Today I am thankful for grace, mercy, sanctification & justification.
  • Today I am thankful for a great job!
  • Today I am thankful for a wonderful hubby who cleaned and cooked while I was scrapbooking (And also thankful for everything that goes with scrapbooking!!!) I am so blessed.
  • Today I am thankful for the freedom to worship in a Bible believing, Bible preaching church. I am so thankful for Southside Baptist. Looking forward to great services today.
  • Today I am thankful for a great 30 minute walk at the river. So relaxing!!!!
  • Today I am thankful for an evening of no responsibilities. I have had another great walk at the river and am so relaxed now!!!! This is the day the Lord has made, I will be glad & rejoice in it!!!
  • Today I am thankful for showers of blessings.
  • Today I am thankful for good friends that even though you may not see each other all the time there is still a major connection!!!!
  • Today I am thankful for the excellent health of my children. 10 years can make a huge difference-thank you God for complete healing!!!!

Pumpkin Decor - Altered Flower Pot

Last month Jeanette Lynton (founder & CEO of CTMH) posted the cutest pumpkin decoration made with B&T paper and a terracotta flower pot on her blog. Well, yesterday after our workshop we had some croppin' time and I decided to make one for myself! So here it is:
All you need is a 4" terracotta flower pot, one sheet of B&T paper (I used one of the Grace papers) cut into (24) 1/2" x 7" strips, glue dots and desired embellishements (mine has basic buttons, waxy flax, and ribbon).
I am using it as a candy dish now, but I think I may get some potpourri after the candy is gone!

I had a great time at the November Creative Class. We completed 4 pages using the Grace WOTG (you can get this kit by clicking here or by contacting me). I have added pictures of my nephew and his new wife (they got married last December when he came home from Japan --- he's in the Marines). I am planning on giving them these pages as a start for a scrapbook for their life! These pages were truly fast, simple, & easy -- the CTMH way --- yet they are so beautiful!

Right now our ladies Bible study group is doing a "Deeper Still" Bible study by Beth Moore, Priscilla Shirer & Kay Arthur.  This study is about the life of David and is titled "Annointed, Transformed & Redeemed".  In this week's homework, Beth challenged us to pray scripture until we see a 'this far' moment in our families and own personal lives. (In 2 Samuel 7:18 David asks God "Who am I God, that you have brought me and my family this far?)

So I am beginning with this scripture prayer for me & my family from Prov 4:23-27:

I am praying for our hearts to be guarded and that we put away perversity from our mouths. I pray our gaze is on our Savior and that God makes our paths level and keps our feet from evil!!!

Halloween Altered Coasters

This is my first Halloween creation.  To get the rounded top, I simply cut a circle coaster in half and adhered it to the square coaster!

Deeper Still Conference

Oh what a wonderful weekend I had.  I had the blessing of going to a Deeper Still conference that featured 3 amazing women of God – Beth Moore, Kay Arthur & Priscilla Shirer.  We had a weekend of amazing praise & worship as well as some deep Bible study.  God is so good and spoke to me so much this weekend.  I had the privilege of going with 15 other women including my mom, 2 sisters, 2 nieces and future daughter-in-love as well as other ladies from my church.  It truly was a wonderful weekend and I am so blessed to serve a living God – Oh what a Savior my Lord Jesus is!!!!!

My morning paintings from God!

In June I was transferred to a new school as assistant principal. I went from having a 5 minute drive to a 30 minute drive, so now I am having to leave my house at 6:40 AM. I am NOT a morning person, so this has been a struggle for me. However, it has been a great transition and God is showing me that I can have some time with Him each morning. This move has been very good for me in many ways --- my stress level is much lower and I am really enjoying being at my new school. Another great thing about this is I am driving East each morning which means I get to see the sunrise on most days. Here are a few pictures that I snapped while stopped at a traffic light on a couple of different mornings. I always look at a sunrise as a special painting from God just for me!!! What a blessing to see his artwork every morning.

Playing Catch Up!

WOW! I can't believe it has been almost a month since I last posted. It has been a very busy and hectic month. We are less than one week from Katie's wedding so needless to say we have been getting all the last minute stuff done. Jordan & I also went to Bryson City, NC with on a missions trip with our youth group for a week. Then I had a week long intense training for the new reading program our district s adopting in all the schools --- so I haven't had a whole lot of time to do much scrappin'! However, it has been a good month and I am looking forward to next weekend with Katie's wedding. I will post some pics after the wedding!

I previewed the new Fall Idea Book and CTMH has some great new paper packs and some exciting new products. I will be hosting some more workshops in Septmeber and will also be kicking the new book stay tuned!!!!

Moon Doggie Pages Featuring Our Family Cruise Pictures

I am so excited! I just finished putting pictures on my pages from the June Moon Doggie monthly creative class. I also added some extra pages as well as used CTMH's flip flap pages to make interactive layouts (thanks to fellow CTMH consultant Tresa Black - see her blog for a video tutorial on how to use the flip-flaps!) This great idea allows me to display lots more pictures on my pages! Here is a video of the pages with pictures & journaling!!!!

A Patriot for God

This is a devotion from Dare 2 Share ( I thought it was very appropriate to post this today!

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. (John 8:36)

To most people, it's just a bunch of scribbled lines on an old piece of parchment under a glass case in a museum. That's why the majority of Americans have never stopped and pondered what actually happened to the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence. Sad - because they are the brave souls who paved the way for the United States of America to become the great nation it is today.

Just for the record, these men didn't get to enjoy the freedoms we do. Five signers were captured by the British as traitors, and tortured before they died. Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned. Two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army; another had two sons captured. Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or hardships of the Revolutionary War. They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor. What kind of men were they?

Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists. Eleven were merchants, nine were farmers and large plantation owners; men of means, well educated. But they signed the Declaration of Independence knowing full well that the penalty would be death if they were captured.

Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and trader, saw his ships swept from the seas by the British Navy. He sold his home and properties to pay his debts, and died in rags. Thomas McKeam was so hounded by the British that he was forced to move his family almost constantly. He served in the Congress without pay, and his family was kept in hiding. His possessions were taken from him, and poverty was his reward.

Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of Dillery, Hall, Clymer, Walton, Gwinnett, Heyward, Ruttledge, and Middleton. At the battle of Yorktown, Thomas Nelson Jr, noted that the British General Cornwallis had taken over the Nelson home for his headquarters. He quietly urged General George Washington to open fire. The home was destroyed, and Nelson died bankrupt.

Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed. The enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months. John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she was dying. Their 13 children fled for their lives. His fields and his gristmill were laid to waste. For more than a year he lived in forests and caves, returning home to find his wife dead and his children vanished. A few weeks later he died from exhaustion and a broken heart. Norris and Livingston suffered similar fates.

This 4th of July we get together with family and friends, and enjoy the time off from work. But I would suggest taking a few moments to reflect and thank God for the astonishing sacrifices that were made so that we could enjoy freedom. As well, take some time to reflect on the One who made the ultimate sacrifice to acquire for us freedom from sin and death. Jesus was the ultimate revolutionary who bought our freedom from a life of chasing ridiculous things like money, fame, and power. The gospel is our declaration of independence, and we should have the same attitude as the men who signed the Declaration of Independence:

"For the support of this declaration, with firm reliance on the protection of the divine providence, we mutually pledge to each other, our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor."

Let this holiday remind you that we have been set free from a life of slavery to Satan, now we can proclaim the message of true spiritual independence to our friends and family. Dedicate yourself to being a patriot for God, then watch the spiritual fireworks begin!

Our Cruise was FANTASTIC!!!!

Well, we are back home from our cruise and we had a blast! There were a total of 23 of us that went and needless to say there was never a dull moment! Oh and Jake proposed to Tara! So as soon as Katie gets married on August 8th, we get to start planning another wedding! They have set the date for June 5, 2010! Here is a picture of them right after he proposed --- they were on the top deck of the cruise ship and it was very windy!

Hopefully soon I will get pictures on my Moon Doggie pages and get them posted!

After creating these pages, I knew I wanted to use this paper to create something for my office to display our cruise photos. So I used one of our Memory cubes and created a wall hanging!

Family Update!

What a month this has been! I'm not even sure if anyone reads this....but maybe it's more for me than anyone else.

Let's see where do I start. Well, to begin with on June 5th, Jake graduated. It is so hard to believe that he is 18 and has graduated from high school. It has been very bittersweet...putting his video together, going through old photos....where does the time go. But it has also made me realize, once again, how very blessed I am.

The past two weeks, I have been settling into my new school. I am now the assistant principal at a middle school in Palatka. This past week, I got my new office set up and am beginning to fell settled. I am excited about the move....not near as many extra evening duties at a middle school compared to a high school, so that means more time to focus on family and scrapbooking!!!! But even though I was looking forward to them move, saying good-bye to all the people at IHS was hard. And at graduation, the students presented me with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and Jake's football jersey as a memento of my years there. Thankfully, Jordan will be playing sports all year, so I will still get to see many of the teachers and students!

An update on my parents... Dad has finally been able to start his radiation. HE finished 5 treatments this past week and has 37 more to go. He has recovered from all of his other surgeries so we are definitely seeing the light at the end of this tunnel. Mom is doing better also. She has received two spinal injections and that has helped the pain in her back...however, she will probably have to have surgery later on in the summer.

Wedding plans for Katie & Eric are moving on along very well. She has been very diligent about getting everything done and the invitations went in the mail last week.

We leave for our cruise this coming Thursday... going to Western Caribbean (Cozumel, Mexico) to celebrate Jake's graduation. There are 23 of us going so we are sure to have a great time.

Covered Note Pad Holder


  • 1 – 4 ½" x 12" piece of cardstock

  • 3 – 4 ¼" x 5 ½" pieces of coordinating cardstock

  • 1 – 3" x 3" piece of cardstock

  • 3 – 4" x 5 ¼" B&T Duos patterned paper (can all be the same or can be different)

  • 2 – 5" pieces of ribbon

  • 3 ½" x 5" Note Pad

  • Calendar sheets

  • Basic supplies: Scoring Stylus, Trimmer, Scissors, Adhesive

Step 1: Score the 4 ½" x 12" cardstock across the wide side, 5 3/4" from either end.

Step 2: Fold cardstock along the score lines to create a ½" spine in the center.

Step 3: Mat all 4" x 5 ¼" pieces of B&T paper by adhering to the 4 ¼" x 5 ½" cardstock pieces.

Step 4: Adhere one of the matted pieces onto the outside front of the holder.

Step 5: Center two pieces of ribbon inside the holder as shown and adhere with adhesive strips.

Step 6: Adhere the other two pieces of layered cardstock over the center panels to cover ribbon ends.

Step 7: Decorate the top as desired.

Step 8: Cut calendar squares and using brads bind the months together, then adhere to the 3" x 3" piece of cardstock.

Step 9: Adhere the note pad and calendar pages to either sides of the holder.

Step 10: Close the top, and tie off with ribbon.

Step 11: Use a Pentel RSVP pen to make a matching pen --- take ink cartridge out of pen barrel then wrap a ½" x 3 ½" B&T duo around the cartridge. Replace cartridge and replace cap.
