An Awesome Team Training & Cute Projects

On Saturday, I participated in a multi-location team training that was hosted by my amazing upline, Melissa Robinson and her friend Terri Baxter.  Melissa & Terri pulled off a team training that was held simultaneously in 9 different location across the US.  I was lucky enough to spend the day with 5 other awesome CTMH consultants creating layouts and nugget boxes! Melissa & Terri created all the projects then sent us step by step instructions --- it was great! This support is one of the many reasons I love being apart of CTMH!!!! Here are the layouts we created using a Level 1 Kit and a pack of Level 2 Stickease and a few embellishments! Super easy and stinkin' cute.  (I normally don't post layouts without pictures, but I was so excited to share these, I couldn't wait  - I will also add more titles once I add photos!)

This is actually a card that was added to the layout for either journaling or a hidden photo!  I love this idea!

Now here is one of the nugget boxes I made (BTW - they are nugget boxes because the candy in the middle are Hersey Nuggets!)
This box has four 3x3 cards and envelopes along with 3 Hersey Nugget Bars! Now how cute is this!!!!
Layout Supplies:

  • Wings Level 1 Paper Pack
  • Wings Level 2 Stickease
  • Black Mini Medley Embellishments

(All of these are available on my website now and with some great deals until Jan 31.)

Nugget Box Supplies:

  • Black Cardstock
  • Hollyhock Cardstock
  • Sweetheart B&T (not available until Feb 1)
  • White ribbon

According Paper Flower --- Thanks Lisa Stenz!

Thanks so much to super talented Lisa Stenz for sharing a video tutorial for these adorable paper flowers.  They are so easy to create.  So check out my flowers, watch the video and then get some paper and start creating!!!

This is one of the larger flowers --- still debating on what I am going to put it on! I used Emporium with a Buttercup button & chocolate waxy flax! (All from CTMH)

Here is the smaller flower on a card using a sentiment from the January Stamp of the Month. Again I used Emporium with a Sweet Leaf button & chocolate waxy flax - of course everything is from CTMH.
Now click here to watch the video!!!

OK - -go create your flower!!!!

Siesta Scripture Memory & ABC Challenge

Both the Siesta Scripture Memory Team with  Beth Moore & the ABC Scripture Challenge with Patter Cross are posted on the same weekend and now that I am on schedule with both of them I am using the same verse for both challenges.  For the letter B, Patter chose the word BIBLE. BTW - her post for the study is so good -you should check it out. The verse I am memorizing this week is:

2 Timothy 3:16 - "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction and for instruction in righteousness."

And here is my 6x6 layout for my ABC Scripture album:

I added some journaling on the cardstock that is hidden behind the verse.  The button stickease acts as the tab to pull the journaling out.

Supplies used:
  • Wishes: Enchanting Enclosure
  • Wings B&T & Level 2 Stickease
  • Liquid Glass (for the marbling technique on the base)
  • Vineyard Berry Ribbon
  • Vineyard Berry Ink Pad
All supplies are CTMH -- contact me to place your order!

ABC Scripture Challenge

Another challenge I am hoping to keep up with this year is the ABC Scripture Challenge hosted by Patter Cross! This challenge will be to memorize a scripture that highlights the focus word (beginning with each letter of the alphabet) every two weeks. To start the challenge, we started with the word ANCHOR.  Click here to read the word study Patter posted to start this challenge.  The verse I selected was Hebrews 6:19a "We have this hope as an ANCHOR for the soul, firm and secure."  This word means so much to me as I am a living testimony of how Jesus has been my anchor through life's storms and trials!!! The journaling for this is one of the verses and chorus from an old song by Ray Boltz, My Anchor Holds.

I am going to do my scriptures on 6x6 layouts to place in an album or a spiral -- still debating.  I am also not sure if I am going to put a title on here or not - if I do I will repost a new picture.  Thanks for looking!

Made to Crave!

This past weekend I started reading Made to Crave by Lysa Terkeurst.  This book is simply about learning how to satisfy our deepest desire with God instead of food.  I had not planned on blogging about this topic, but after reading chapter 4 today I realized the importance of an accountability partner.  You see for years I have dealt with being overweight.  I have tried every diet plan out there and they have worked - temporarily.  Lysa is one of the contributing writers of Proverbs 31 ministries which I receive daily devotions from.  A few weeks ago, I was reading on her blog about this book that she had written and I immediately felt the Holy Spirit whispering to me that I needed to read this book.  So as soon as it was released I ordered a copy and picked it up on Friday.  I have only read the first 4 chapters (which I have related to everything she has written about so far) and can already tell I did the right thing.

Please understand this is NOT a diet book -- this is a book about how we are made to crave - -but our cravings should be for GOD and GOD alone.  By the way - I don't even necessarily have a 'weight' in mind that I am trying to get to - -this time it is all about my health and how I feel -- physically & mentally but most of all spiritually.

Well, today as I was reading Chapter 4 about the need for a friend to go on this journey with, I had the sense that I was to blog about this journey and let all of you be my accountability partners!  My plan is to do a weekly blog about this journey to let you know what I am learning and how I am doing. I hope you decide to follow along!

My Christmas Layouts are Done!

WOOOHOOO!!! This is the first time ever that my Christmas layouts are completed this soon after the holidays.  (I am still working on some layouts of the gatherings with the extended families using Studio J!) Some of these layouts I did using the pages I created at a workshop in November but then the Dear Santa & Wii are Family layouts I just finished up tonight.  This is also the first time I have incorporated one of our 4x6 album pages in a series of layouts as well. With the 4x6 album page and flip-flaps, I was able to use lots of photos!!!! I really like the way it all turned out -- it looks much better in the album.  Hope you enjoy!

Notice how I used a Stickease of Santa instead of the word in the title!!! The left page is a regular layout and the right page is the 4x6 album page.

The left page is the back side of the 4x6 album page in the Dear Santa layout above!  I love how this flows together.

We ALL had a blast playing Just Dance 2!!!!

I love flip-flaps!!!

Scripture Memorization

As some of you may know, I am working on reading through the Bible in its entirety this year.  However, I don't want to just make it a task to be checked off when it's done, so I am also going to participate in a Scripture Memory challenge hosted by none other than Beth Moore! I have completed many of her Bible studies and consider her to be a woman of God and so in tune with Him! So as I was reading her blog the other day, I noticed she was starting a new "Siesta Scripture Memory Team" and I decided to join it.  It is a challenge to pick a verse every two weeks for the year to hide in our hearts - that's only 26 for the entire year.

I was just reading her blog update and she said that over 8,000 people have joined in on this challenge.  So I want to encourage each of you to join in as well.  Simply visit this blog post and read the instructions to get started memorizing God's Word!!!  Leave me a comment if you decide to do this so that we can pray for each other.

By the way --- I chose James 1:5-6 as my first selection to memorize this year: "Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without criticizing, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith without doubting. For the doubter is like the surging sea, driven and tossed by the wind." -- see my post Living in 2011 for an explanation as to why.

January Stamp of the Month, Find Your Style

Welcome to our Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! We will be featuring January's SOTM, which is Find Your Style, a set of 9 stamps. If you have come here from Kathleen's Blog, you are on the right path! The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way all around. If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants here.

This month we have more than 50 Close To My Heart Consultants sharing their creations using this month's SOTM and other great CTMH products on their blogs. This is simple to do - just click on the link at the end of the post on each blog to move to the next one! Here we go!

I used a new technique I learned from the latest CTMH Art & Soul video called marbling.  I used a balled up piece of regular white copy paper to blot liquid glass all over a piece of Colonial White cardstock then let it dry.  After it had dried, I used my rubber brayer with Sweet Leaf ink and covered the cardstock.  The dried liquid glass resisted the ink, giving it the marble look.  The other papers on the cards are from the Wings Level 2 paper pack and the bird and sentiment are from the Find Your Style stamp set that is only available during the month of January. Contact me to find out how you can get your very own set at a discounted price or even FREE!!!  I also added some brads and ribbon from the Mini-Medley's Black Accents to finish the card off.

Now "Hop" on over to Terri's Blog to see her work! Be sure to visit all the Consultants at their Blogs to get some great crafting ideas and other fun ideas! Remember, the January SOTM is only available until the 31st! Contact me to see how you can get this stamp set at a discount or even FREE!

Here is what the stamp set looks like:

Living in 2011

As a new year comes in, we often make a long list of things we want to change --- lose weight, exercise more, spend less money, read the Bible more, be a better person --- and the lists keep going and going. Last week at Youth Alive, we watched a small snippet of a skit by the Skit Guys about this and the last line was --- this year stop listing and start living. So over the last few days I’ve been thinking about that and then this morning I was studying my Sunday school lesson and it was about the consequences Rehoboam (Solomon’s son) faced because he didn’t make wise decisions. As I was thinking about this lesson, James 1: 5 & 6 came to my mind --- "Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without criticizing, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith without doubting. For the doubter is like the surging sea, driven and tossed by the wind."

That’s when it hit me – this year I am challenging myself to read through the Bible and in doing so I am praying that I will learn to seek God’s wisdom in every decision that I make - -from the smallest day to day tasks to the larger life changing ones! I want to learn to ask in true faith – believing that what I am asking God will answer --- maybe not in the way I think – but always in the best way for me. When I do this, then I will truly be living!!!

Dear Heavenly Father, today as we start 2011 I am not going to make a list of resolutions. Instead I am asking You for wisdom in my life – wisdom in knowing what Your plan is for me this year --- wisdom to trust You with every detail in my life. I am asking this with all the faith I have believing that You will answer and guide my every step I take. My life is Yours and today I pray that the life I live I will truly live by the faith of you Jesus, the one who loved me and gave all You had for me! In Jesus Name, Amen
