Using Studio J to Create Home Decor

I cannot believe we are 3 days away for the end of 2013! I know I say this often, but seriously, where has the time gone?  With our son's graduation & moving off to college, our daughter's wedding, empty nest, my new job .... I honestly have no idea where 2013 went.  I am hoping that in 2014 I can get back into some scrapping' and creating again!  I did use Studio J to create some presents for my kids and grandkids for Christmas and baby shower. On some of these I used the No Limits layout design and created everything with text wells and title wells. And on some of them I used some of the templates and simply changed all photo wells to text wells. Within a text well you can change the font style and color as many times as you want as well as use any of the B&T designs or solid colors for the background.  So here are my creations:

Studio J is so easy to learn to use and it is totally FREE to use & design.  You do not pay for anything until you order your layouts!!!! Contact me for more info!

Creations for Baby Jase!!!!

Today was baby shower day for grand baby #2, Jase Michael, that is due in January.  We are so excited to meet him.

His mommy, Tara, really likes the chevron design and wanted his shower to be mint green & brown chevron with a little bit of burlap added in. So I went to creating (with the help of a very creative friend):

Tara's table

Close up of the banner

Mini banner tied to basket for the cards

Table centerpieces:
Burlap, mint green chevron ribbon, with a brown chevron J wrapped around a mason jar sitting on a piece of burlap scrapbook paper  with baby boy sticker embellishments!!!!

Well tonight I finally had a chance to go to my scrap room and simply create. No required project, no set time, no idea what I was going to do! It felt so good. I didn't get  a lot done but at least I made it back there and did a little bit!

Here are 3 cards I made using our retired Clementine paper, chocolate ribbon and a variety of buttons.  I have had this paper for 1 year and this is the first time I have even used it!!!!

And here is a project I made using some card stock, flowers, buttons, and bling with a family poem sticker on a painted canvas.

Saying YES to God - Week 3 Blog Hop

We are in week 3 of the online Bible study I have been doing from Proverbs 31, "What Happens When Women Say Yes to God." Through this study I am learning to be more aware of God's voice and learning how to say YES to Him.  I can say YES to Him because I am compelled by HIS amazing love. (1 Cor. 5:14-18) and His love compels us to choose obedience - no matter what the cost.

Last week was the beginning of a another school year.  This is my first year as a principal and my prayer for the last 20 years in education has always been for God to use me to be a light for my students and fellow teachers and it is still my prayer. I have always been very vocal about my faith even in my classroom. I have always made sure students knew I went to church and any chance I could get to share a story or in someway share Jesus I did.  I remember one time a student came to me before school and asked me to pray with her because her mom was having surgery that day. Many times I have had students in my youth group at church that are at my school so conversations always happened about different activities in front of others.

As I was preparing to start pre-planning with my teachers last week, I knew God was asking me to continue to let Him shine through. However, I was nervous because now as the principal everything fell on my shoulders and I knew that there could be some repercussions if I crossed the line. On the first day we had our welcome back breakfast and I knew God was asking me to make sure there was a prayer said before we began asking Him to not only bless the food but the school year as well.  So I had made my mind up that I would talk to one of the male teachers that I knew was a Christian and ask him if he would pray. (Prayer from a peer teacher it is not looked on the same as if it comes from the 'leader' of the school.) But I didn't get a chance to talk to him before the meeting started. Oh by the way, I also knew there was a staff member who had made it clear that school is not a place for prayer - especially by administration.

Well it was time to start the welcome back festivities and felt - no I heard - God whisper to me - "Tonya you are to pray." Wait a minute - this is my first time as a principal!!!! But I chose to say YES and with a boldness that could have only come from God, I opened our school year in prayer!

And so far -- things have been GREAT! And if for some reason I get some flack from anyone, I know my GOD will intervene because I said YES and HE has a plan!!!! #amazed #YestoGod

Wedding Creations!

So one of the reasons I have been absent for so long is hat I have been busy wedding planning.  My daughter got married 2 weeks ago and we created most of her reception decorations. I had posted a few months ago about how we were using our re-inkers to die white carnations (read this post for colors and directions) to match her chosen colors. We also used CTMH's  3" "My Creations Block" for part of the table decorations.  Here are a few collages of our creations:

3 in. "My Creations Block"painted black then covered with card stock, bling, love quotes and white & black 2'" photos.

Mason jars, clear stones & white carnations dyed with re-inkers and coordinator ribbon.
The other project for the decoration were using white paint with our re-inkers to paint chalkboards. She used the chalkboards on each table for guests to write advice then upload the pics to a wedding app she found.  Here's my advice for the newlyweds:

Here is a picture of what the centerpieces looked like in the end:

Mason jar, block and chalkboard all on a silver tray. Each table was a different color.
We also used the flowers for all the bouquets --- Here is a picture of Britt with her girls that show the color scheme for the wedding:

Now for a few pics from the wedding:

#PalmsUp - I am Saying Yes to God!!!!

God has really been speaking to my heart over the last few months about my messed up priorities. Then this week as I was reading Chapter 1 of Lysa TerKeurst "What Happens When Women Say Yes to God" I felt the slap in my face I needed to make me realize how messed up priorities have been. When Lysa asked what's holding us back, I knew immediately it was my priorities. The night I read that part, I had told myself I was only going to be on Facebook for 10 minutes then I was going to do my Say Yes study for the evening. Well an hour and a half later I was still on Facebook. Then I started reading the discussion questions and saw that one and bam I felt the slap!!!! I realized that I had put Facebook ahead of my time with my Lord! He was asking me to spend time with Him and I said later - that's the same as telling Him no! How can I love the Lord my God with all my heart and all my soul and all my might, when I spend more time on Facebook than I spend with Him? Now that's some messed up priorities.

Thankfully I serve an amazing awesome God that loves me unconditionally and just wants me to say Yes. Well I am saying Yes to Him - my Jesus has my full attention and I am learning to listen for His whispers and to feel His nudges because I don't want to miss anymore of His "surprise parties" or divine appointments that He has planned especially for me!

Yes God I am ready to be radically obedient and whatever you say do, I will do it!!!!!

H2H Challenge - Button Up

It felt so good to be creative today and to be participating in some challenges again! It has been almost a year since I did any of the Heart 2 Heart Challenges and today I did two of them.  In this post I am highlighting a layout I did for the Button Up Challenge. I used the For Always paper pack highlighted with Twilight cardstock to scrap a few pictures from my anniversary trip last summer that the hubby & I took. Our wedding song was Amazed by Lonestar so I thought it was a very appropriate title!!! The saying in the middle of the page is the zip strip for the For Always pack. This was such an easy and quick layout to put together --- got to love CTHM!!!!
