God's Goodness

Lamentations 3:24-25, "'The Lord is my portion,' says my soul, 'therefore I have hope in Him.'  The Lord is good (towb) to those who wait for Him, to the person who seeks Him."

The word "good" in the passage is the Hebrew word for towb: good, pleasant, beautiful, excellent, lovely, delightful, convenient, joyful, fruitful, precious, sound cheerful, kind, economic or practical benefits, wisdom, esthetic or sensual pleasure.

God, You said You would satisfy the desire of every living thing.  I'm alive!  I have deep needs -  I am desperate for YOU and YOU ALONE to meet!  You said if I positioned myself on YOUR team that You would meet me with GOODNESS.  Not just goodness that is a feel in my heart, but FINANCIAL goodness and ESTHETIC goodness and JOYFUL goodness and ALL SORTS of other goodness.  And I gotta say:  I am desperate for that GOODNESS!  God, would You step in?  Would You make good on your promise?  I have a need!  You said You'd meet it!  Here it is!  Move God!  So that we can proclaim to others:  LOOK WHAT GOD DID!!!  I love You, in Jesus Name, AMEN!

Wedding Flowers!!!!!

As many of you know my daughter is getting married in July.  She is using seven, yes 7, different colors in her wedding.  Each one of her girls will have a different accent color with a black dress. Britt knew she wanted each girl to have flowers to match their color of sash and shoes -- however, finding flowers in all the colors became a challenge.  So we decided to get white carnations and dye them the appropriate colors.  We used CTMH re-inkers mixed with equal parts of water & alcohol then started dipping & dyeing!!! They turned out perfectly!

Here is a picture of the finished flowers with the swatches in the middle to show how close we got to having perfect matches!!!

Here is the process for dyeing artificial flowers:

Mix equal parts of water with 91% isopropyl alcohol -- add drops of re-inker (I used all CTMH re-inkers in Ocean, Watermelon, Sunny Yellow, Pacificia, Dutch Blue, Orange & Clover Meadow). Then take your white flowers and start dipping!

Lay the flowers flat (or hang them upside down) until thoroughly dry!

Here is the bride to be dipping her flowers:

We are planning on adding one more step by spraying them with a mist that we will create with the same re-inkers and a drop of pearl paint.  This will give the flowers a shimmer as well as deepen the colors just a tad bit. When we finish that step, I will post an update!

I will be updating periodically as we create more items for the wedding festivities.  We have several things planned that we will be making & the best part is we are doing this together!!!!

I Am Not....

I just recently finished the book I Am Not But I Know I Am by Louie Giglio and it was truly eye-opening to just how small I am and how big my amazing God is!!!! I want to share some of the ideas from this book that spoke the loudest to me. Please know that these are direct quotes from the book. (Maybe one day I will be able to write like this!!!!)

  •  “I Am Who I Am” --- God exists, God is, God has been, He is in the moment & He always will be GOD!
  •  “I Am Not” --- Admitting this means we admit that we are not in control, not running anything, not responsible for everyone’s well-being, not the solution for everything & everyone, not at the center of all things – this does NOT belittle us – it FREES us!!!!
  • Waking up to the massive God story happening all around me & discovering God’s invitation to join Him in it.
  • God is God, the Author & Sustainer of everything – Alpha & Omega, the Beginning & the End!
  • Life is short and our time on earth is really brief – that’s why we have to make sure our lives count for the stuff that lasts forever!
  • God knows me better than I know myself. He knows how small & frail & weary I am. He knows my limitations & He made me this way for a reason. He knows how weak I am and how strong He is. He desires to do huge, God-sized things through me.
  • I am an ordinary person - one of the lowest, lesser known, the least, the smallest & poorest that God chooses to use to accomplish amazing God-sized stuff.
  • When God invites us into His story, assigning us various roles that are seemingly too big for us to carry out, His affirmation is always the same – “I will be with you!”
  • I have no idea how small I really am or how big God truly is!
  • God is more massive than our wildest imaginations. He is constant! God has no dilemmas, no quandaries, no counselors, no struggles, no rivals, no fears, and no worries! He is self-evident, self-contained, self-perpetuated, self-powered & self-aware! He is timeless. Ageless. Changeless. Always. He shows no signs of wear & tear. He has no needs. He’s the owner & creator of all the world’s wealth & treasure. He made the gold & the silver, and even the trees we make our paper money on!
  • He holds the patent on the skies above – the earth, the seas and their depths below, the breeze, the colors of the sunset and every flowering thing. They are all His invention – His design – His idea!
  • What a way to walk through life – entering every environment with every intention to shine as little light as possible on me and as much light as possible on the Son of God!!!
  • From the very beginning –even before time began – the Father, Son & Spirit were thinking about how much they love me and how they are going to create me beautifully, fearfully and wonderfully – for the sole purpose of having an intimate and forever long friendship with!
  • Not only do we know I AM but I AM lives in us. He displays His power in us and glorifies His name through us.
  • He must become greater & I must become less --- John 3:29-30. This means a focused determination, a calculated purpose statement for life & ministry.
  • Sabbath is not so much a day off as it is a day up – a day to remember that He is God & we are not! Without the Sabbath, we forget who we are and loose sight of who He is! God didn’t need to rest. He’s God. He simply stopped to celebrate all that He had done. He stepped back and took time to admire His effort & receive glory from His creation. Sabbath rest is about me realizing that God is the only one capable of doing anything eternal in and through me!
  • Pride is simply an admission that I haven’t seen God at all. Humility is the instant right-sizing of me that occurs with just only an eyeful of His majesty. True humility is not a sign of weakness, failure or inability but rather a sign that we are getting to know God and have glimpsed His glory!
  • What does a Christ-exalting life look like? Being the best at what we do and leading in every strata of society yet being honorable & dependable, walking with humility and treating everyone we encounter along the way the same way Jesus would.
  • Someone higher is always writing a greater story – a story that will endure when all else fades!
  • I was in the mind of God in eternity past and as God was thinking of me, it was so I could fully enjoy HIM! He was intent on making sure I know how magnificent He is!
  • I am not…but God knows my name.
I am not…but He has pursued me in His love.
I am not…but I know the Creator of the universe.
I am not, but I know I AM!

This book is so worth reading .....

More Creations ... Sea World & PBA

Last November we attended the PBA (Palm Beach Atlantic University) Open House with Jordan & his girlfriend.  This is where they are planning on attending college and as soon as we stepped foot on campus, I knew this is where God wanted him and that he would be taken care of.  So here is the layout I created to treasure the memory of this amazing weekend.

For this layout I used our retired Moon Doggie paper with the coordinating Stickease.  I used some of our flip-flaps to get more pictures on the pages.

SeaWorld Layouts

I used our retired Footloose WOTG with the first 2 of the SeaWorld layouts shown here. The title on the first layout was stamped with Token Alphabet (E1020). For embellishments I used a variety of our buttons and ribbons.

Using a flip-mini album on the layout below allowed my to have a total of 15 pictures on these two pages!!!!!

This last layout was created from a layout I had previously made but had never added pictures to it. However, the layout was on grey cardstock and had blue photo mats.  Since I wanted to highlight the black on Shamu and the yellow in the picture -- I re-created it to make it look like this. I also used liquid glass on the title and some of the pictures to represent water drops.

It felt so good to create again. Now I am off to make my daughter a birthday card!!!!!

Spring Retreat Creations

During the last weekend of February I co-hosted a scrappin' retreat for 16 ladies! We had a great time of fellowship with lots of laughs and I actually got some scrappin' done too!!! It has been a long time since I have had the mojo flowing so it felt wonderful to be at it again.  Check out the items below that I created.

I have been wanting to make some canvas Scripture pieces and I used our Silhouette paper (retired), Just Blooms flowers (retired), sparkles black flourishes (Z1745) & the Everlasting stamp set (D1440).

The following two layouts were created about 2 years ago but I finally added the pictures at the retreat -- and yes I am counting this in what I created that weekend!!!! The first layout is with the Wings paper (one of my all time favorites) and the second one is using Cherry-O.

I also created some cards using our retired Simply Snapshots 9x9 pages. I simply cut them to fit a standard card based added some embellishments and a sentiment from our new Be Still (A1141) stamp set and a quick card stamp set.
