Absolutely Blessed

I wanted to share another creation from the Scrappin' Retreat I was at last weekend.  This is a 12x12 layout that I created to go in a frame for my office. I love have pictures of my family and I desperately need to update my family frame.

I used some retired paper & stickease from one of my all-time favorites - Splendor. I also used our Artiste cartridge to cut the title. Very simple yet beautiful:

I am not going to share it all today but keep close by as I will share some each day for the next few days!

One of the projects I created is this Names of God subway art for my mom.  Right now it is in a memory protector hanging with ribbon in her hospital room.  When she gets home, I will put it in a 12x12 frame!

Supplies Used:
  • Skylark Paper Pack (retired)
  • Lagoon, Pear & Chocolate cardstock
  • CTMH Artbooking, Art Philosophy, & Artiste Cricut Cartridge
  • Calligraphy Collection cricut cartridge (non-CTMH)
  • Wide chocolate striped ribbon (retired)
  • Contraband flowers
I absolutely love using my cartridges with Cricut Craft Room!

All Lit Up ... August Technique Blog Up

Welcome to the August edition of the CTMH Technique Blog Hop. This month we are featuring the technique, "All Lit Up" found on page 88 of the new Annual Inspirations.

If you are here from Haley's blog, then you are on the right track.

For my creation, I did a little bit of a different take on this technique.  Instead of using the glitter paper for the "All Lit Up" I chose to use two different colors, black & lagoon, of the shimmer trim (which looks just like strips of glitter paper).  I do have a confession that due to Open House and the first week of teachers being back at work, I did not get to completely finish my project.  But I am going to a scrapping; retreat this weekend and will be able to finish it and post the final product. Wooohoooo ---- I am at the retreat and I finished the card!!!!!!!

I saw this on Pinterest and have been wanting to try this technique for a while.

Simply take a 4 1/2" x 5 1/4" card base then using wash tape and shimmer trim place them in a diagonal manner.  You will see you don't have to worry about making it neat right now:

Then you simply fold all the edges under. You may need to trim around the corners.

Here is the base of the card after folding the edges in.

And here is the final product after adding the sentiment and a few licorice opaques for embellishments.

Supplies used: card base, Teal Shimmer Trim, Black Shimmer Trim, Lagoon Hearts Washi Tape, and Grey Polka Dot Washi Tape (retired), Cloud Nine Stamp Set (from a previous promotion)

Now you can hop on over to Debi's blog to see even more awesome All Lit Up creations!!!!!

Twas the Night Before....

Twas the night before the teachers return and I am just as excited and nervous as I was 21 years ago starting my very first year in teaching.

It is hard to believe that I am starting my 22nd year and my 2nd year as principal.  As I sit here tonight thinking back over all the students, parents, teachers, instructional assistants, office staff, custodians, bus drivers, and cafeteria workers that I have had the pleasure of being around, I realize that I am truly blessed to be a part of the most important and foundational professions of all professions! I am proud to be an educator and if I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing!

So here are a few quotes I found on Pinterest to share on this night before teachers return......

Now I am off to bed to try to get some sleep!!!!!
