Christmas Begins with Christ

During this season, my prayer is that all of us will realize that Jesus is so much more than the reason for this season - He is the reason for every season! Over the last couple of weeks I have read several devotions as well as our Sunday school lesson and message at church all about the birth of Jesus.  Through those there have been several things that have really stood out to me that I would like to share with you:
  • I want my life to be so in-sync with God that when He asks me to do something completely unbelievable and unimaginable that I will say “YES LORD” just like Mary & Joseph did.  They both could have said no, but they were willing and ready (well Joseph had to be convinced a little bit by an angel).
Luke 2: 1 - 7 in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all went to be registered, each to his own town. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.
  • I think about how there had been a time of silence from God for about 400 years — God had been very present and active in the Old Testament - through speaking audibly to Moses, sending angels with messages, giving dreams, speaking messages through prophets — God’s presence was very evident.  He had promised a Savior in the book of Isaiah and for hundreds of years, His people were looking forward to the coming of the Messiah.  Then all of a sudden God became silent for 400 years - then when He shows up again, He shows up in a big way with the promise of a son to Zechariah & Elizabeth (John the Baptist) and then the promise of His son - the Messiah - the Savior - Immanuel — to Mary, a virgin and her fiancé, Joseph  - a righteous young man. Can you imagine what it must have been like to be Mary or Joseph — all of a sudden after 400 years of silence, God choses you to speak to and bring about a miracle through your life!!!!! WOW!
  • Oh Lord, may I be so ready & willing to listen and obey!!!!
Matthew 1: 18- 25  Now the birth of Jesus Christ[e] took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us). When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife, but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.
  • Jesus came to be our Savior & in His incarnation, He revealed Himself to us, He identified Himself with us and He gave Himself for us!
  • I love thinking about how He revealed Himself to us - Jesus - King of Kings & Lord of Lords, the Eternal Son & Heir of God our Creator, Wonderful Counselor - the long awaited & promised Messiah!!!
  • He identified Himself with us — He became man - flesh & blood - although He was completely God! But He knew He would need to be able to relate to us so He became one of us. He was tempted just like we are tempted - but in His temptations He did not sin! He knew what He was facing — to the point of sweating drops of blood, and He even prayed for God to remove the cup of death from Him - yet even in that He was still willing to be obedient to His Father!
Hebrews 4: 14-16 Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need
  • We have a High Priest, who can sympathize and understand our weaknesses - one that we can draw near to with great confidence - with boldness in our time of need - whatever that need is!!!!
  • He gave Himself for us — we cannot think about Jesus as a baby in the manger without thinking about Jesus on the cross and the empty tomb! He came as a babe so that He could be our sacrifice and become our High Priest! He took our place and His blood is the perfect and complete blood that washes all of our sins away!
This is what Christmas is all about — I pray that you will see not just a nativity scene with a baby laying in a manger but that you will see the Son of God, our Wonderful Counselor, our Mighty God, our Everlasting Father, our Prince of Peace.

Do you know the real meaning of Christmas — do you know Jesus as your personal Lord & Savior? If not, give Him the greatest gift of all - you! If you have questions, I would love to talk with you about what it means to follow Jesus!!!!

Merry CHRISTmas!!!!

CTMH Paper Pack Focus - Kaleidoscope

Thank you for joining me and several Heartfelt Sentiments team members as we showcase artwork using Close To My Heart's paper packet, "Kaleidoscope".

This is such a fun paperback and I I know you will like what you see as you "hop" through these amazing blogs!!!!

If you are here from Melissa R's Blog then you are on the right track.

For my project this month, I used the Kaleidoscope Express Collection in Studio J to create a layout featuring my adorable grandson!!!!!  Using the Express Collection all I had to do was upload photos and add the journaling. It took me less than 10 minutes -- now that's what I call Quick. Easy. Simple.

You will notice that the B & T (that's the patterned paper) is blue instead of multi-color as shown in the photo of the papers above.  In Studio J, you can change the B & T patterns to monochrome colors to match your photos!!!!

Now hop on over to Marianne's Blog for another amazing project!!!!

You can visit my website to get started with Studio J or to order your own Kaleidoscope paper pack today!!!!

My Heart is Overflowing

There are very few times that I am completely speechless but this morning I experienced one of them.  This week of Thanksgiving has definitely been one of the best I have ever had and this morning God poured grace and love and blessings all over my already full heart!

It started with taking some time off from work and simply unwinding.  We also finished getting Britt & Jordan's rooms changed over to a 'guest room' and a 'play room' as well as I had the time to get my scrapbook room organized and cleaned.  Those three rooms have been a stressor to me for the last year or so because they just screamed of empty nest, disarray and chaos every time I walked to that part of the house. But not anymore -- I actually feel good about what we have done in there and I am at peace with our empty nest.

On Wednesday we had all of our children and grand-babies here with Nanny & Papa and enjoyed Thanksgiving #1! My heart always fills up when our house is full with family! Then on Thursday, we had Thanksgiving #2 at my mom & dad's with 26 of us gathering and celebrating with each other.  The best part of the day was walking into the house and seeing my mom already showered with make-up on and cooking dinner with Jake helping! For her to be feeling well enough to cook was a true blessing but then to have her not in one of her house dresses was even better.  We all sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather then Mom & Dad both stayed outside and watched the crazies play their annual football game. What a difference one year has made with her health!!!!

All of this was followed by a very relaxing day at home on Friday with just me & the hubby as well as a drive down to Nanny & Papa's to sit on the back porch playing cards and again enjoying some beautiful sunshine and a wonderful breeze! On Saturday our house was full with all the kids here again watching the Florida - Florida State game (all of us are Gator fans with the exception of the two sons-in-law) but even with a loss the day was a blessing!

Then this morning --- I still am not even sure how to put everything I experienced in words but here goes.  We went to church at Dunn's Creek where my parents go, Jake is the worship pastor and my nephew plays guitar. Jordan was to be the guest speaker this morning there and up to this point I had not heard Jordan preach since he started at PBA. I watched a video of one of his messages and knew that he had definitely grown in his preaching since he had left and wow - what a message he brought today!!!

As I walk in the sanctuary I realize we have two full rows of family including Mom & Dad, my sister, nieces, an aunt & uncle, Britt, Justin, Andrea & her parents and then Ron & I.  Jake begins the service with Shout Hosanna and my heart starts filling up. We then sing Go Tell It on the Mountain followed by Mighty to Save and end with Holy Spirit.  Here I am worshiping my Lord & Savior surrounded by family with Jake leading worship, Jordan standing on the front row ready to bring the Word, my husband & Britt beside me and knowing that Katie is at her church in Orange Park singing in the choir!  At some point during Mighty to Save my heart begins overflowing and during Holy Spirit my eyes burst with tears of pure joy as I am totally overcome with how very blessed I am! I may not have the fanciest of homes, or designer label clothes or a bank account with lots of money or a skinny body -- but you know what -- I could care less! Because what I do have, money cannot buy!!!! What I have is peace in my salvation as well as in knowing that my husband and all of our children and their spouses have a personal relationship with Jesus and that all of them are living a life that is a testimony of what the love of Jesus looks like! What I have is HOPE and FAITH and LOVE and MERCY and GRACE and FORGIVENESS! And that is what I am oh so very thankful for today and everyday!!!!

CTMH Christmas Crafts Blog Hop

Welcome to our

I am very excited to be a part of a special blog hop this month featuring Christmas crafts that have been created using our fabulous CTMH products.  For this hop there will be a variety of projects including cards, stocking stuffers, gifts and even some home decor!

If you are here from Melissa D's blog, then you are on the right track! If you get lost along the way, you can find the full list of participants at Melissa R's blog.

For my project, I chose to use Studio J to create some home decor featuring 2 of my favorite verses about Jesus!

I used the Snowhaven kit in Studio J (this kit has been retired as a paper pack but it can still be found in Studio J!!!!) I simply used journalling boxes for the text and chose to use different fonts to give it a 'subway art' look! I will get 2 12x12 frames and then either give them as gifts or hang them in my office.

Studio J is so versatile you can create almost anything using it!!!! If you haven't tried it yet, check it out here - then let me know what you created! Anyone who creates something with Studio J before Christmas will receive a handmade goody from me (make sure you add me as your consultant when you order your SJ creation in order to receive your gift from me.)

Now hop on over to Katy's blog to see some more great CTMH Christmas crafts!Thank you for joining us on our hop and make sure you let me know what you think about my creations!!!!
