My Walk With Jesus

A few weeks ago I went to see Rend Collective, Tenth Ave. North & Chris Tomlin with some of my closest friends. It was an amazing concert and it was just what my soul needed!!!! There were several songs that spoke such truth to my heart. One of them was Rend Collective's "Finally Free" and the first stanza speaks of how God's mercy rains down on us like confetti at a wedding. WOW what a visual of His mercy that is new every morning! And I know without a doubt I need His mercy to pour over me everyday!

Another song that really spoke to my heart was Tenth Avenue North's "I Need You."  You see, when I first realized that I was lost, I knew I needed Jesus to save me - I knew I needed Him.  But at that time, it really wasn't in me to love Him, I just knew I needed Him.

However, as I began my journey with Jesus I quickly realized I also loved Him. I love Him because He first loved me! I love Him for giving His life for me! I love Him because no matter what I do, He pours His mercy all over me like confetti at a wedding! I love Him because of who He is! I love Him because He forgave me and continues to forgive me! I love Him because He took this no good lousy sinner and made me worthy & righteous! (I could keep going for a ling time on reasons why I love Him...)

Now, twenty-three years after giving my life to Jesus, I can honestly say that I want Him! My relationship with Jesus is so personal, so real, so alive --- that it's much deeper than a need or even love -- I want to be with Him, I want to walk with Him, I want to spend time with Him, I want to simply be in His presence.  And I know that it is only Him that can give me joy & it is only Him that can fill a void & break a silence deep in my soul!

Here is a video of this song -- listen and worship.....

There were so many other songs that spoke to my heart also, but this one has really been ministering to me over the last few days and I wanted to share it with you!!!!! If you do not have a personal relationship with Jesus, please contact me -- I would love to share more with you!

Just A Little Note & A Sneak Peek....

My good friend and upline, Melissa Robinson posted a card yesterday she created for a color challenge found at Color My Heart Color Dare.   I loved the colors so I decided to play along as well.  We were challenged to incorporate the following Close To My Heart colors into our project:  Black, Cotton Candy, Lagoon, Olive, White Daisy.

I chose to make some quick cards using the April SOM Typed Note.  I can't show you all the images on the stamp set yet because it is not available until April 1st.  But let me just tell you --- it is so versatile & quick to use - one of my new favorite stamp sets!!!!

I used a white daisy card base with a cotton candy layered on top of an olive card stocks.  I stamped the vintage typewrite in black and then the sentiment is stamped in lagoon.  I added some black hemp and lagoon (or teal) Junebug puffies. I also distressed all the edges with matching ink (the white is distressed with black).

Every time I create something I realize how much I enjoy this hobby of mine ... I MUST make more time for this!!!!!  If you would like to place an order, visit my website! If you would like to find out how you can get your hands on stamp sets and other products before they are released, contact me to find out how to join my team!!!

It's An Oily Life - Everyday Blends

Today I am sharing information with you about the oil blends that come in the Everyday Oils Collection.  If you have not read my other posts on oils, start here.

PanAway is a blend of 4 oils including Wintergreen, Helichrysum, Clove and Peppermint.

PanAway is soothing to the skin while providing comforting warmth to muscles after exercise.  PanAway is a great go-to oil for minor discomforts, supports circulatory health, and muscle discomfort.. It also works well on growing pains and minor discomforts for kids who wake in the middle of night...just a few drops of PanAway with carrier oil and massage over the legs.

Joy is an uplifting, exotic and stimulating blend of 10 oils including Bergamot, Ylang ylang, Geranium, Lemon, Coriander, Tangerine, Jasmine, Roman chamomile, Palmarosa, and Rose.

This is a fantastic oil for anyone who is grieving or depressed, many people apply it over their heart or wrists to ward off negative feelings or emotions. It is uplifting and makes a great mood boosting bath when you’re sad or in a funk. Joy can also be used to help maintain healthy blood pressure and circulation, menstrual discomfort, and mood swings. Joy is also a natural aphrodisiac and makes a wonderful chemical free perfume!

Stress Away is a relaxing blend of Copaiba, Lime, Cedarwood, Vanilla, Ocotea, Lavender and coconut oil.

It brings feelings of peace and tranquility to both children and adults and helps reduce mental rigidity and restore equilibrium. Stress Away can help induce relaxation and reduce occasional nervous tension. Use this as a natural perfume or add to an epsom salt bath. You can also add to cotton balls or tissues in your car for a peaceful trip and it can be used to calm anxious pets.

Purification is a blend of 6 oils including Citronella, Lemongrass, Rosemary, Melaleuca (tea tree) Lavandin, and Myrtle.

This oil can neutralize odors like mildew, burned food, and stinky garbage. It cleanses and disinfects the air. Purification works great on cat urine stains or in a litter box, hotel rooms in a diffuser or to spray down the sheets. It disinfects and cleanses minor cuts and scrapes. You can use Purification as a summer outside spray.

Thieves is a powerful blend of 5 oils including Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus, and Rosemary.

The name “Thieves” comes from it’s history of use by a group of 15th-century thieves. The thieves rubbed these oils on themselves to avoid contracting the plague while they robbed the homes and bodies of victims. When apprehended, these thieves, who were perfumers and spice traders, disclosed their formula in exchange for more lenient punishment. No home should be without Thieves! It is a great immune booster and effective way to ward off illness and it’s great for mold on surfaces and in the air. Thieves is also very effective for oral care and it’s very useful in household cleaning.

And as a bonus oil -- citrus fresh!!!

It's An Oily Life - Everyday Oils

When I started thinking about using essential oils, I realized the best thing for me to do was to simply sign up with Young living so that I could get the Everyday Oils kit (along with a diffuser and some other supplies!)  The Everyday Oils Collection comes with 5 single oils and 6 oil blends (a combination of more than one single oil for added benefits). These are some of the most commonly used and most versatile oils which no home should be without! The collection includes 5 singles (Peppermint, Lemon, Lavender, Frankincense, and Melaleuca) and 5 blends (Joy, PanAway, Stress Away, Purification, and Thieves).  I am going to share with you some info on the singles today and will share info about the blends tomorrow.

First up is Peppermint

Our Peppermint is so potent and pure that ONE DROP delivers the equivalent of 26 cups of pure peppermint tea. It’s great for digestive issues as well as muscle soreness and discomfort and head discomfort. It opens up the airways so it is very effective on chest and nasal issues. Peppermint is also known for increasing alertness, energy, and clarity. University of Cincinnati found that inhaling peppermint oil increased mental accuracy by 28%. Peppermint can be used to help reduce a temperature, it also drives in other oils so you can layer it on last to increase the effectiveness.

Lemon is full of antioxidants which have been shown to improve digestive health as well as cellular health.

It’s great for skin issues, throat discomfort, ear and sinus concerns, mouth issues and it helps to drain the  lymphatic system. It is pH correcting (alkalizing), which is good because germs don’t do well in an alkaline environment. You can add a couple drops to your water daily for it’s alkalizing and wellness benefits. It also works great to dissolve residue, gum, oil, grease spots, and crayon.

Lavender is known in the essential oil world as “the swiss army knife” because it is so versatile.

Our therapeutic-grade lavender oil naturally has several hundred chemical components, which explains how it has so many uses. Lavender is very calming and relaxing, it’s great to diffuse in the evenings to promote a good night sleep or add to a hot bath to help unwind after a long day. It’s great for seasonal discomfort, especially when used with Lemon and Peppermint. You can swipe it on the inside of your cheek or nostrils, or apply anywhere you are experiencing seasonal discomfort. Lavender also works wonders on all types of skin issues including insect bites and stings, cuts, scrapes, and bruises, minor burns and sunburns and even scars.

Frankincense is a VERY valuable and sought after oil, in ancient and Biblical times it was actually more valued than gold. It is mentioned in one of the oldest known medical records called the Ebers Papyrus (dating from sixteenth century B.C.) with an ancient Egyptian list of 877 prescriptions and recipes. Young Living has a frankincense and myrrh tree farm in Oman.

Frankincense is considered the holy anointing oil in the Middle East, where it has been used in religious ceremonies for thousands of years. More recently, it has been used in European and American hospitals and is the subject of substantial research.

Other uses of Frankincense:
  • Frankincense is also a valuable ingredient in skin care products for aging and dry skin. The ancient Egyptians used it in rejuvenation face masks.
  • Why is Frankincense so helpful for emotions? Frankincense is high in sesquiterpenes. They act on the pineal gland, which is the gland considered the seat of emotions. Remember, research shows that when inhaling the pure constituents in these oils, can stimulate the olfactory receptors and activate regions in the brain’s limbic system associated with memory, emotion, and state of mind.
  • Frankincense has a visual tightening effect on the skin and may benefit older, more mature skin.
  • Can slow signs of aging on the skin.
  • When used on a regular basis topically and internally, can aid in maintaining normal cellular regeneration.
  • Frankincense trees grow out of polished marble rocks, without soil.
  • Frankincense is as versatile as Lavender
It’s also great for overall brain health as it helps not only with emotions but also with focus and concentration.

Melaleuca Alternifolia, otherwise known as Tea Tree, is highly regarded for it’s gentle germ killing powers.

It works beautifully for maintaining clear skin and can be very helpful on yeast and fungus. Melaleuca A. is also an excellent addition to laundry or homemade deodorant because of it’s deodorizing and cleansing properties. This oil is very gentle so it’s great to use with children and can help sooth owies and boo boo’s.

It's An Oily Life --- How to Use Essential Oils

Essential oils can be used 3 different ways - aromatically, topically, and internally. Essential oils can also be used to make cleaning products, homemade lotions, lip balm, sunscreen, bug spray, bath salts, and more.

Topically- Because of their molecular structure, essential oils are rapidly absorbed by the skin. Most of the time you will want to dilute your essential oil with a carrier oil*, which is any plain vegetable based oil (olive, coconut, grapeseed, apricot, almond, etc). Essential oils are very powerful and potent so a little bit goes a long way. One reason you would dilute your oils is to allow them to cover a larger surface area. Also keep in mind that you almost always want to dilute oils with children, usually more so than you would on yourself. We also use Carrier oils with an essential oil when an essential oil feels too “hot” on the skin. Clove, Cinnamon, Oregano, Thieves, and Lemon are examples of “hot oils” that may need to be diluted with a carrier oil. However, when putting a “hot” oil on your feet, it does not need to be diluted with a carrier oil. You never want to put essential oils in your eyes or ears! If you do get some in your ears or eyes by accident flush with carrier oil, not water.

As far as how and where to apply your oils, generally around the area you are wanting to support. For example if you have a head discomfort you would apply to your temples and forehead, digestive issue you apply to the abdomen, respiratory issues you apply to the chest, and so on. Other common places to apply are pulse points (wrists and neck), up the spine (lots of nerve endings there), forearms, or bottoms of the feet. Another way to apply oils is on the Vita Flex points. Vita Flex points are places on hands, feet, spine and ears that relate to organ systems and activate their reflex.  Applying the oils to the Vita-flex points on a foot that relates to organ system will activate their reflex. This is called Reflexology, which is the same electrical pathways that acupressure and acupuncture work with.

Applying the oils to your feet is a great way to absorb the oils into your body. With over 2,000 pores in each foot, they have some of the largest pores on your body.

Aromatically: Direct Inhalation- Fragrance is the substance of memories. Research shows that when inhaling the pure constituents in these oils, it can stimulate the olfactory receptors and activate regions in the brain’s limbic system associated with memory, emotion, and state of mind. Hence, in less than a second, a scent has the power to activate a number of physical and emotional responses. This causes the pituitary gland to be stimulated and release chemical messages that travel via the blood to your glands and organs that create physical body responses. That is why inhaling the oils can have a great affect on emotions. The only way to reach that part of your brain is not orally, but through your nose

Aromatically: Diffuse-Harsh chemical formulas aren’t your only home cleansing option. Enjoy peace of mind without compromise when diffusing Young Living Essential Oils. By diffusing, it helps to purify and cleanse the air from environmental impurities including cigarette smoke and other disagreeable odors.

Many American homes use synthetic air fresheners that contain numerous amounts of chemical agents that have been linked to cancer. Formaldehyde is in air fresheners. The olfactory nerve is a pathway to the brain, which when it is being hit with formaldehyde, it will disrupt the endocrine system. It actually deadens that nerve, which decreases your nose from being able to smell as well. Formaldehyde is the #1 cancer causing chemical and is what you are embalmed with at the morgue.

Internally- You can put oils in an empty vegetable capsule. You can drink the oils in a glass of water, juice or tea. You can cook with the oils and add them in your food. The oils that are safe to take internally will be labeled as a supplement.
